Chances are any resident of the UK is probably already familiar with, if not enamored by Gala Bingo. That’s right, I said thirty million. Gala is the largest land based bingo organization in the UK.
Gala’s on line bingo gaming has gone through a metamorphosis. Initially Gala’s was one of the pack using software supplied by St. Minver’s Parlay. The problem was that many other bingo sites used the same software including Virgin Bingo, Littlewoods, Butlins, Chit Chat Bingo etc. While this software does offer a shared network of information, it does not provide much individuality.
In 2006 Gala scrapped the St. Minver’s Parley software and reopened using its own custom software. Becoming unique and separate required some industry courage but it is apparently paying off. Gala’s land based operations have always offered distinctiveness, quality and reliability and Gala’s on line operation is drawing clout of its own, making Gala’s on line bingo a secure and safe place to play.
Whether because of its established reputation or for some other reason, Gala’s does not offer much in the form of new member incentives which was a bit disappointing to us. Previously, new member’s accounts were started with £1 of Gala’s money, allowing the new player to really get a feel for the site’s play. Now in order to try Gala, you must register and invest some money of your own. Gala’s does not offer matching funds to new members of their first deposit either. Still Gala’s does offer the reputation of assuredness and safety to the internet newbie.
Registration is quick and easy and you can immediately start playing. There is no custom software to download onto your own computer, but your computer must the Flash plug in, which is normally pre-loaded onto most computers. One really great feature is that when we used an Apple Mac to enter the site, we had no incompatibility problems at all. That is a big plus for Mac fans.
Non-registered users are allowed to view the games consul but are not allowed to view the chat section. This is a downer because socialization, in our opinion, is ½ the fun of on-line bingo in the first place. You will not be able to see if the kind of socialization on Gala’s is right for you until after you sign up and invest in an initial deposit.
Visually, Gala’s new custom software is quite handsome. The animation is nice and the color setup is bright and clear; definitely a step above the rest of the pack. New users generally feel quite welcome. Navigation is simple and easily managed; play and chat are both easily viewed on the same screen and player options are customizable. Gala’s can also be played in silent or mute mode.
Chat, which we think is very important, is quite nice at Gala’s. Gala’s employs a chat master 24 hours a day that keeps conversation moving and within reasonable parameters. Chat is quite a popping place at Gala’s so many of the chat rooms can be full even early in the morning. Between bingo games, if you don’t feel like chatting, casino and instant win games are offered.
At the time when we tried Gala’s ourselves, we did not find any bonus incentives at all, which is a real drag. However, the promise of beach holidays and Minis did pique our interest in future development of Gala’s new customized site. Still the bingo is good, the chat is lively, the console is engaging and the play is secure.
